Brokonto - when you commute between Sweden and Denmark

If you are a commuter between Sweden and Denmark, and receive salary, pension payments or a State Educational Grant (SU) in Denmark, Brokonto will make it easier for you to transfer money between your SEB accounts in the two countries.

From 18th November 2020 is it no longer possible to open new Brokonto accounts OR apply for VISA/Dankort in SEB.

You can choose a fixed amount to be transferred every month between your SEB accounts and a fixed monthly date for the transfer. As of January 1, 2015, the quarterly fee is DKK 150. To link a Brokonto to your Visa/Dankort there is an annual fee of DKK 150. Contact your branch in Sweden to get more information about the Brokonto-concept and to open a Brokonto.

How do I log in to my NetBank?

 You have to use NemID and a NemID code card to login.

You log in to your NetBank via this link.

If you do not already have NemID you can order it at Nemid.nu.

What is NemID?

NemID is a digital signature like the Swedish Bank-ID. You use NemID to log in to your NetBank, public websites such as skat.dk, borger.dk and several other internet services. NemID consists of a user ID, password and a code card. The code card is a folded piece of paper with a number of printed one-time codes.

To login with NemID you use your user ID, password and a code from your code card. When you log in a 4 digit code will appear on your screen and you enter the 6 digit personal code from your card shown beside the 4 digit code. Code cards are automatically ordered when there are around 10/15 unused codes left.

I forgot my password - what do I do?

You can request a new password at Nemid.nu. You will need the number of your code card to make the request.

I need a new key card – what do I do?

To order a new code card you go to Nemid.nu. You will need your NemID user ID and password to make the request.

What is a NemKonto?

NemKonto is a bank account used by public authorities in Denmark when they need to transfer money to you. For example NemKonto is used to transfer tax refunds and holiday allowances. You can only have one NemKonto and you choose which of your bank accounts you want to use as your NemKonto.

How do I register Brokonto as my NemKonto?

Register your Brokonto as your NemKonto via your NetBank.

Log in to Netbank

  • Go to "Konto og posteringer" in the left menu
  • Select "Kontoindstillinger"
  • Select "Indstillinger"
  • Click "Nemkonto” to the right."
  • Click "Gem indstillinger"

Can I use a Swedish account as my NemKonto?

Yes. Log in to self-service at nemkonto.dk with your NemID and change your NemKonto.

What are my options regarding the monthly transfer?

You can choose to transfer a fixed amount each month.

You can choose to leave a fixed amount on your Danish account every month. We will transfer the excess balance. This solution is useful if the balance of your account varies or if you expect public payments such as tax refunds or holiday allowances.

If the transfer date is a weekend or a Danish national holiday, the transfer will be made the previous day if there is enough money in the account.

Is it possible for me to change the monthly transfer?

If you want to change the fixed transfer amount, please send us a message via Net Bank. If we receive your message no later than 2pm, the transfer will be amended on the same day. Otherwise we will change it the following day.

How do I make an extra transfer?

In addition to the monthly transfer, you can make manual transfers against a fee.

Log in to Netbank

  • Select "Ny betaling" in the left menu
  • Go to "Ny overførsel" and select payment information
  • Click "Næste" and follow the instructions.

Can I put my monthly transfer on hold?

Yes, you can pause the transfer for up to 3 months. The balance on the account for the period must be at least DKK 1.000. Please note that quarterly fees will continue to be deducted from the account. Therefore we recommend closing your account if you don’t plan to use Brokonto again.

If you have a VISA/Dankort linked to your account, please remember to destroy it if you close the account.

To put your monthly transfer on hold, to resume it or close the account completely, please send us a message via NetBank. If we receive your message no later than 2pm then the changes to the transfer will be made same day. Otherwise the changes will be made the following day.

My monthly transfer is not complete, what happened?

Possible reasons why your monthly transfer is not complete:

  • You do not have enough money in your account. Log in to NetBank to check your balance.
  • Your monthly transfer has not yet been completed. Please note, transfers from your Danish Brokonto will take place at approx. 3pm.
  • Your monthly transfer might be on a date when it is a weekend or a Danish holiday.

How do I block my Visa/Dankort?

To block your Visa/Dankort call Nets on +45 44 89 29 29. You will be asked to provide your name, your address, the name of your bank, your account number and your CPR number in order for the card to be blocked.

My Visa/Dankort does not work - what do I do?

Possible reasons why your Visa/Dankort does not work:

  • You have overdrawn your account with more than 500 Danish kroner.
  • Your card is demagnetized
  • Your card has expired
  • You have reached the maximum withdrawal amount of DKK 2.000 per. day from a cash dispenser
  • You have reached the maximum usage amount of DKK 25.000 (purchases and withdrawals) abroad for 30 days
  • The card can be blocked by Nets due to unusual activity or suspicion of abuse or theft. Please contact Nets at +45 44 89 29 29.

Please send a message to Brokonto customer service via ”send a message” in your NetBank. Please note that all communication should be in English.

I used the wrong PIN more than three times. What do I do?

Due to security reasons your card is automatically blocked if you enter an incorrect PIN three times in a row. Please send us a message via your NetBank explaining the issue. We will open your card again and order a new PIN.

How do I receive a text or an e-mail about the balance of my account?

Please sign up via Internet Bank, if you want to receive notifications about your account. For example, you can set your account up to notify you when an amount larger than specified is deducted from your account or if your card is blocked etc.

Log in to Netbank

  • Click "Info Services" in the left menu
  • Select "Create New Agreement" "Opret ny aftale"
  • Select the services you want to add to your notifications and follow the instructions. A fee of DKK 3 is charged per sent message. Messages sent due to blocked cards or users are free of charge.

Can I access Internet Bank with smartphone/tablet?

Yes. In your App Store you can download "SEB Danmark", which is SEB's Danish Mobile Bank for tablets and smartphones. You have to sign up to “Min Mobilbank” and create a PIN to have mobile access to Internet Bank.

To access Mobile Bank, please log in to your Netbank and sign up to “Min Mobilbank. There you also create your own PIN for use in Mobile Bank.

What happens in case of an overdraft on my account?

If your transactions exceed the balance on your account, you violate the agreement you have entered into with SEB. If the overdraft exceeds DK 500 your card will be automatically blocked. You must pay a fee of DK 300 and repay the overdraft in order to reopen the account. In addition the balance of the account has to be positive to reopen it. Once you have covered the debt on your account, please contact Brokonto customer service via Netbank.

Please note that if your card is blocked twice, we cannot reopen it and we will no longer offer Visa/Dankort to your Brokonto.

To avoid overdraft

Please keep in mind that payments with your Visa/Dankort in Sweden are handled as foreign transactions. This means that they are not deducted from your Danish account until two days later. Please consider signing op for notifications by SMS or e-mail when your account reaches a certain balance.

Is it possible for me to transfer money from my Danish to my Swedish SEB account?

Yes. You can make a foreign transfer via NetBank. Please see the user guide

I have made a transfer from my Danish to my Swedish account. When is it completed?

It depends on the type of payment you have chosen to use. When you make a transfer between your SEB accounts in the two countries, you can choose between three types of payment types:

  • Economy payment (Økonomibetaling) (3 Banking Days) = 100 DKK (If you make the transfer Monday, the money will be available on Thursday)
  • Standard payment (Normalbetaling)(2 Banking Days) = 200 DKK (If you make the transfer Monday, the money will be available Wednesday).
  • Express payment (Ekspresbetaling) (1 Banking Day) = 300 DKK (If you make the transfer Monday, the money will be available on Tuesday).

When transferring money please note, that a Banking Day is a regular weekday (Monday-Friday) with the exception of public holidays. For example, if you make an economy payment on Friday, the transfer will be completed on Wednesday.

  • Log in to Netbank
  • Select "Ny betaling" in the left menu
  • Go to the tab “Nyt indbetalingskort" and enter your payment information
  • Click "Næste" and follow the instructions

How to sign up for BetalingsService (BS) – the Danish version of Swedish Autogiro?

  • Log in to Netbank
  • Select "Ny betaling"in the left menu
  • Go to the tab "Nyt indbetalingskort" and enter your payment information.
  • Go to "Foretag eventuelle tilvalg" and select "Tilmeld betaling til Betalingsservice"

Where can I find my IBAN number?

  • Log in to Netbank
  • Go to "Info Services" in the left menu
  • Click "Kontovilkår" to find your IBAN number

What is the BIC code/SWIFT address?

  • ESSEDK22

Can I sign up to get an e-mail or text about a balance in my account?

How to update your phone number?

  • Log in to Netbank
  • Go to "Kundeoplysninger" in the left menu
  • Click "Kundeoplysninger"
  • Select "Tilføj nyt telefonnummer" in the menu to the right
  • Follow the instructions and click "OK"

How to update your e-mail?

  • Log in to Netbank
  • Go to "Kundeoplysninger" in the left menu
  • Select "Tilføj ny e-mailadresse" in the menu to the right
  • Follow the instructions and click "OK"

How to update your address?

Unfortunately, you cannot change your address information yourself. Please send us a message with any changes via Netbank.

You can contact us by e-mail. Click "Send besked" in the left menu in your NetBank. Please write in English to facilitate the expedition. We will respond as soon as possible and within 24 hours.
